Volunteering

Impact Lives – Fulfill Yours … As a Nazareth Living Center Volunteer

Why volunteer?

Volunteering at Nazareth and becoming a member of the Nazareth team offers a unique opportunity to put your special talents to work for the good of others in an innovative and person-centered environment. Working in an atmosphere of resident care, volunteers have the opportunity to learn and grow as they provide service to others.

Nazareth offers volunteer opportunities for all ages - from confirmation classes and high school students to retirees 90+ years old. Helping others is such an important part of the American way of life that many high schools require their students to spend a certain number of hours volunteering in order to graduate. Volunteering isn't like work or school - instead of having choices made for you about what to do, you have an opportunity to choose what really interests you.

What can volunteers do?

Nazareth volunteers provide an important role by assisting staff in delivering a wide range of services for residents. Our flexible volunteer program provides many options and opportunities that are tailored to fit an individual's interests, abilities, and schedule. Volunteer opportunities inclue the following:

Eucharistic Ministry
Transporting residents within the campus
Playing cards & games with residents
Writing letters for residents
Visiting with residents
Serving refreshments
Sewing, quilting, and craftwork for the Gift Shop and Craft Fairs (Can work from home or at Nazareth)
Reading aloud to residents
Assisting in general office work
Assisting feeding residents
Assisting in a dining room

How can I become involved?

Your level of involvement is entirely up to you. We value and appreciate your time, talent and effort and look forward to your joining the Nazareth Volunteer team!

Please complete the Volunteer Application form (153K PDF) and return it to the Volunteer Coordinator. For service as a volunteer, Nazareth Living Center requires a completed application, a criminal background check with Social Security number, two tuberculosis skin tests, attendance at a volunteer orientation, and training in the selected area. If a volunteer does not have a current (within 12 months) PPD test (TB test), Nazareth does the testing free of charge. Please review the Volunteer PPD Test form (86K PDF) that needs to be completed and returned to the Volunteer Coordinator.

Note that these forms are PDF files, readable with Adobe Acrobat software that you can download free of charge.
